Much of the character of these rings comes from the type of wire used--round, square, or rectangle--and the gauge or size. A few of the rings shown here are just a bit more complex. One ring is open, with two parallel bars terminating the wire from both directions. Another uses a smaller circle to complete the ring, formed to fit around the finger so the profile of the ring is still a circle. Several of the rings have a subtle (or not) texture applied. The textures are usually created with a small hammer, or by making cuts in the surface of the ring with a jeweler's saw.</p>\n\n<p>These rings are all size 7 or 8, all sterling silver, and all the textures are handmade, (no pattern wire was used.) All the rings were made from sterling silver wire, soldered to close the loops, (except the one that was left open intentionally.) Soldering is a relatively inexpensive alternative to casting. These rings have been sanded and polished to appear seamless and are very strong.</p>"},"deep_dive":null,"links":[],"relationships":{"media_graphic":[{"media_image":{"alt":"Thin sterling silver stacking ring, open with two parallel bars at either end of the curved wire","height":738,"title":"","width":922},"media_caption":"This ring is more visually interesting than some of the others, but it's also resizable--to some extent.
